We added a character selection user story to the backlog: ticket 309

"As a player, I want to choose from a number of predefined characters to start the game with."

We can add this as a secondary sprint goal. Do you have any thoughts on this?

I want to wait until next meeting to be able to judge whether we can make it. Smiley

I think we might be able to work in something for the last week of the sprint, if everything else gets done.
We need to test out the character creation before we design templates for predefined characters.

At the GUI level, I think it might make sense to add this in - even if it doesn't do much by TD2.

It is also more work on coding side than for us.

Actually, predefined characters wouldn't be too much work to program.  Especially if the stats are to be saved to a file of some sort.

I didn't think so, but apparently some people do.

I'd rather chew off my own limbs, but y'know... each to their own.

A mockup I have made.
Multiple characters next to each other would allow to compare directly while choosing (think online shop comparison). This one is space-inefficient regarding 800x600 being the minimum so far.

Should we use the notebook for char customization, then it would be fitting to have char selection in it as well, as it is logically connected. The user won't have to understand the new window (size/design) as well but only its contents (the content of the char creation screen is quite loaded..).

Here's my take on the char screen

I created tickets for the user story and mockup task and updated the sprint page:
