actually, my FIFE is busted.

Both parpg and rio_de_hola break after a second or two.  'Bus Error'
This is both with HEAD of FIFE cvs and revision 3236 on Mac OSX 10.5.8 (Intel)... using god knows what build dependencies (I had to rebuild after using FIFE 0.3.0 Mac port, which worked "for a while").

Anyone here had this issue?  Or should I bug FIFE people?

Did the latest SVN not fix anything? Perhaps you could get this fixed if you described the problem on #fife.. I'd offer my help but I don't know if it's worth anything considering I never compiled anything on OSX.

I get totally different error now - seems to be pychan related.  I rolled back to 3373, will try again this afternoon.

Unfortunately FIFE does currently not have an active Mac maintainer :-/

EDIT:
According to this comment, fullscreen mode actually works fine on Mac, so prolly windowed mode is only affected by the problem? Could you check that Zenbitz?

Well, I didn't check full screen mode, but I did reinstall everything (including OS!)
and now it works in all modes.  Some comments are on the wiki (both FIFE and parpg)

Yay, I am a DEV again.
