Having a "download" link which leads to a page which tells you that you can't download it has the same effect as a "screenshot" link which leads to a page that tells you that there are no screenshots yet.

I recommend to not create 'sections' earlier than the section's content.

When a player reads "download" s/he reads "this is where I can get the exe to play".

That's me being negative for today Smiley

the svn command should be on the download link too.
Right now people can only see
"Check out the latest version from http://parpg-svn.cvsdude.com/parpg/trunk/PARPG/ into <FIFE>/clients/<parpg>. "
but it is not answered HOW this is done. What about total svn noobs? A tarball is so much easier, just click on it and you can download it, but if the visitor doesn't know the svn command ...

Here's the deal: I overhaul the article for win32 users, explaining how it gets done under Win32 and somebody else takes care of the Linux approach, assuming that the Linux users uses the normal svn command line and not any graphical frontend?

Just overhauled some paragraphs of the article. My Linux knowledge is quite limited so it would be great if somebody could take a look at the latest version of the article and extend it where it's needed.

I had some compile error last i tried (few days ago), didnt write it down though. Will do so over coming weekend and write back here - a little mini-faq for compile errors might be useful too

Right now rpath (when i wrote the message above i was using Vectorlinux)

I recompiled about 80% of all apps already though... I basically compile everything on my own,
which can be a pain in the *** for some apps which dont behave nicely ...

I am very close to throw Linux away and use WinXp again, but I dont think it would make me really happy either... Wink

Anyone fancy working on the Mac one as well? I'm happy enough to download the nice, easy version on the XP half of my Apple, but nothing pisses off an Apple user like being told that he's going to have to screw about with stuff just to get what PC users get at a click.

The don't have a Mac expert on the team right now. I agree that something like native precompiled Mac packages would be nice to have but we would have to find a Mac expert who knows this field and can help us out.

I've added a feature request about precompiled Mac packages to our product backlog.
