1  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Status of all things PARPG? on: September 08, 2012, 03:18:41 AM
Thought I'd stop in and give my regards. Sorry to see that this project failed. Are there any other projects people are working on? I'm still generally interested in providing music.

Yo, nice to see you're with us.
Change background for throat singing, and you're on the right track Cheesy
I've never left. :O
Throat singing. Erm...I'll get back to you on that. Tongue
3  Development / Audio / Ritual-esque? on: February 20, 2011, 05:53:20 AM
Here's an audio sample of something I did for a class. I'm curious if something along these lines would work in this game - some sort of strange chant taking place as part of some sick, twisted ritual.

Yes, this is my singing voice, altered to sounds kind of, er, gross. Cheesy

Thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.

4  General Category / General Discussion / Still Happening? on: May 03, 2010, 06:02:48 PM
Hey, guys. Has the project sort of stalled at this point? I haven't noticed much activity on the forums (I know I don't post much, but I do lurk every other day). Or is there mostly activity happening on IRC?

Congratulations on the release of the tech demo, though it is bittersweet, as I am sorry to see you leave, barra.

This can be a discussion for another topic, but if we wanted to profit somehow by selling the soundtrack of the game, I know of a few means of setting up with minimal cost (using kunaki.com to mass-produce CDs; setting up the product on cdbaby.com where they will distribute the album to different digital outlets).

I'm also curious as to how many people we have to create individual sound effects. I know we had at least two people making some sounds last summer, but haven't heard from them since.
7  Development / Audio / Re: Battle Themes on: February 18, 2010, 04:46:28 AM
Depends on how much of a delay there is between the beginning of the battle, entering commands, and how fast the battle moves (though I imagine the 'speed' can be altered if need be?). Anyway, here's something I threw together relatively quickly; I'm wondering if this can be usable in some form or not. Yes, it's in OGG format.

8  Development / Audio / Battle Themes on: February 18, 2010, 04:10:09 AM
Out of curiosity, how long will battles be in this game? Brief? Moderate? Long? Of course, it would help to define each term.

For a brief battle, it would have to be anywhere from 15-20 seconds per fight. Moderate could be about 30-60 seconds, and long will be longer than a minute. I'm just asking because I'm playing around with my sequencer right now, and could have a messy, 'brief' battle theme ready for the techdemo, if there's going to be any fighting at all.

I showed the video to a friend of mine, and she thought it was the final product. I had to convince her that it's just a sample of the engine in development, haha.  Grin

At long last! An SFX person!

Good to hear from you, Dave. Thanks for stopping by.  Smiley

I was asked to post a status update. While I'm not on as frequently as I normally was, I'm still interested in the progress and the success of this project. If anybody needs even a sample track, I can provide one in a relatively short period of time. However, this term is going to be incessantly busy for me, so I may only be able to do one thing at a time.

That said, do not be afraid to poke me or ask me for help if you think I can help. If there's something I can do or need to do that's crucial, I can make time for it. Just give me a reasonable amount of time so I can adapt.

Thanks.  Smiley
13  Development / Audio / Abstract piano work on: November 30, 2009, 05:57:18 PM
Hey, guys. This piano piece I'm working on for my composition class isn't going to be included in PARPG, but I'm curious if you think a musical idea like what I'm doing for this work can be in the game. I'm talking about the harmonic language, as well as the instrumentation. Would a piano work be completely out of place in PARPG? Just curious.

Take a listen to the sample here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/749gan
14  Development / Audio / Re: WIP Ambient Track (hi btw) on: November 30, 2009, 05:52:56 PM
I have to agree with shevy...the guitar that blasts in is just far too strong. I'm not saying its entrance isn't welcome, but it is a bit hard on the ears.

I wouldn't mind having this, or a rendition of this as the main title screen. But that's just what I'm picturing to have there.

Q_x, that thread isn't even that related to this one; why are you trying to link them? Yours is about generating a playlist of sorts. This is about the construction of the soundtrack as a whole.
