The project isn't "frozen". It's being actively ceased, and that's a major difference.

I realize this, and I think it's good as well. My "frozen" word usage was in relation to the code, which was what he was asking about. Beliar has essentially forked portions of the code into a separate project, but the code for the project has essentially been "frozen" in it's current state, i.e. it is no longer actively developed.

Just so you guys know, considering my lack of experience with fife/nuts-and-guts game programming in python and the "ceasing" of the project, I've decided to try to pull some of the concepts from this game and make a RubyOnRails or Django webapp game (like Die2Nite or similar), since that's my expertise. Hopefully I can be true to the spirit of this game, and make something everyone would enjoy playing! After having that experience I may be more qualified to help beliar out or something, I just don't think I have enough experience with all the components to really help him out right now.

It really looks like the project is frozen as is. If you'd like to help out though I would suggested taking a look at Beliar's fife module or just helping out with fife in general.

I couldn't get mine set up correctly either Knitter, as far as being able to keep a bridge between local work and the repo. I'm used to using bitbucket/github with sourcetree at work though so maybe I'm just doing something wrong.

As far as coders go, I still haven't had time to really get going, but I'm still hoping to get involved as soon as my work/freelance schedule opens up. If Beliar is going to be working on a generic engine though, we may want to work on that over the PARPG source.

I understand what you want to do Beliar but it seems like developing both at the same time would be more trouble than just one going at once, why not just have any coders work on fife-rpg and then maybe have someone backport/transfer work from that project to PARPG as long as it's alive to keep it going. That way any any content providers who happen to stay/get involved will have fresh tools and progress to work with monthly, and a more generic solution would become essentially the upstream for PARPG and could more easily be used to create something else if PARPG completely dies out.

Basically I'm just trying to say we should all work on one or the other, if that was confusing haha

Also, I haven't found a good python editor any suggestions that run on OS X and don't include Wingware or Eclipse (Pydev)?

I don't have any suggestions as far as the problem you're having, but I use Sublime Text 2 (http://www.sublimetext.com/2). Not an IDE, but if you're just looking for a good editor for python that's a great one.

Added parpg-source repository (http://hg.assembla.com/parpg-source) that only contains the source files of parpg.
The parpg-core repository, which was the main repository to checkout before, will be a development repository...

Is parpg-source the dev one or is there another parpg-core outside of this restructuring?

Hey there, thought I'd introduce myself since I threw up an opinion on the forums yesterday.
I'm interested in helping out with programming the project, currently have a lot on my plate in regards to class/work/freelance, but as soon as the class bit slacks off in the next week or so I was planning on getting my hands dirty.

I'm a computer science student in Montana, currently with no experience with game programming, but I know and use Python as my main language at work as well as programming experience from previous jobs and classes and such.

Getting experience with working on a game is top priority for me, and this project seems like as good as any to lend my skills to. Idea sounds really interesting, and you seem to have a decent community just itching to make content, with a major need for a framework, which encourages me to help build that framework.

Any questions, let me know, I'm hoping to get started within the next week or two after I finish up midterms and a freelance web design project I've got going.

Hey sorry if this is out of place since I haven't introduced myself before, but I'm interested in helping out with this project as soon as midterms are finished up (computer science). Just thought I'd throw in a hearty +1 for both github and having some sort of centralized discussion/current state, going through the wiki has gotten a bit confusing as to where the project is at the moment.

Refocusing seems like a great thing from my glance of the project, a more direct current goal and such would certainly help get things moving and/or wrapped up. Seems like you guys actually have decent amount of people working on this compared to other projects like this that I've looked into, just need to get focused enough to be achieving little things that keep the momentum going.

Just my two cents as someone who is completely ignorant of whats actually going on Wink
